Investing for a Better World: Exploring the Potential of Socially Responsible Investments

Socially Responsible Investments (SRI) have gained significant attention in recent years as more investors are seeking to align their financial interests with their social and environmental values. SRI can be defined as investments that consider both financial return and social and environmental impact. This investment approach seeks to promote sustainable practices and has the potential to drive positive change in the community or society, in general.

From an investor's point of view, SRI can provide financial returns while also supporting ethical and sustainable business practices. From a societal perspective, SRI can encourage companies to adopt socially responsible practices and contribute to sustainable development. It should be noted that discussions around SRI involve considerations of sustainability risks, which may result in negative impacts for the company.

The special issue will cover a range of subtopics, including but not limited to:

  • The role of investors in promoting SRIs, and the strategies they use to incorporate ESG factors into their investment decisions
  • The challenges and opportunities of measuring and evaluating the social and environmental impact of SRI
  • The integration of climate issues into risk management and their impact on SRI
  • Sustainable investment products and their impact on promoting sustainable and responsible business practices
  • The influence of regulatory frameworks on the adoption of SRIs, and the role of policymakers in creating an enabling environment for sustainable finance.

We welcome original research papers, literature reviews, case studies and conceptual papers. The papers should fit the scope of the journal and be of interest to a broad audience of academics and practitioners in the field of finance, business, and sustainability.

Therefore, this special issue on Socially Responsible Investments will contribute to the growing literature on sustainable finance and provide insights into the challenges and opportunities of SRI.
