Cancer Survivorship Research & Care

Despite substantial evidence regarding the late and long-term effects of cancer on the quality of life and longevity of cancer survivors,  access to evidence-based psychosocial, supportive care and healthy lifestyle interventions and the integration of effective models for delivery of survivorship services in routine cancer care continues to be poor.  An urgent global challenge and priority for cancer survivorship is the dissemination and implementation, also known as knowledge translation, of robust evidence-based interventions and effective models of survivorship care delivery into routine cancer care. Implementation science, a field of science that employs rigorous methods to design and test strategies to more effectively integrate, spread, and sustain research evidence into clinical, public health practice and policy, health care delivery and community settings must become more commonplace in survivorship research. To accelerate progress in implementation research, we are inviting article submissions that have applied implementation theory, methods and strategies to implementation and/or to promote the uptake of interventions and models of care in real-world cancer care. Papers could also include scoping and systematic reviews with a focus on implementation approaches and strategies or synthesis of barriers and challenges in implementation and uptake.
