Plant biodiversity and plant based bioresources are key components that connect nature biodiversity and bioeconomy. However, the research related to these issues has been mainly restricted to these separate areas, without addressing complex topics and problems related to the valorization of the existing plant biodiversity and efficient and sustainable utilization of related bioresources.
We are pleased to announce that journal Biotechnology and Biotechnological Equipment will publish an Article Collection entitled “Biodiversity and Bioresources”. The article collection welcomes papers in a broad area of research related to evaluation and in-depth characterization of plant biodiversity, promoting biodiversity valorization for expanding the range of plant based bioresources, as well as studies on the impact of bioeconomy developments on plant biodiversity. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Experimental methods and approaches for complex evaluation of plant biodiversity, including characterization of genetic and metabolite diversity and DNA barcoding applications
- Characterization and sustainable utilization of biodiversity and bioresources of medicinal and aromatic plants, including topics related to their (semi-)industrial cultivation and processing
- Evaluation of the impact of human activities and (semi-)industrial plant cultivation on plant biodiversity
- Knowledge-based management and utilization of plant genetic resources
- Utilization of bioresources complexity through valorization of by-products from plant processing
Original research articles and reviews are welcome.
