Biocomputing & Biomolecules

Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) and DNA-Protein interactions are the essentials for normal functioning of the living cells. Mutations may cause functional or structural loss or affect regulatory properties associated with cell signaling and cell survival, being the reason for malfunctioning of the genetic mechanisms of cellular control, which is the basis of genetic disorders, such as the cancer. The identification and description of these interactions leads to better understanding of infection mechanisms and serves as the basis for drug discovery programs. Describing complex mechanisms of genetic control requires application of advanced computational methods.

We encourage the submission of the state-of-the-art articles that will bring to light important functional and structural properties of PPIs and DNA-Protein interactions by the means of computational analysis.

Although not limited, we welcome submission of original research articles, short communications and mini-reviews in the following areas:

  • Computational proteomics: proteins structure prediction, proteins classification, proteins conformation and dynamics analytics, proteins expression modelling, PPIs function, properties and interactions;
  • General bioinformatics: annotation studies, biodata mining methods and algorithms, optimized sequence alignment techniques, matrix-based phylogeny methods, database construction and search, novel algorithms, software and web-based applications;
  • Clinical and pharmaceutical bioinformatics: associations of Protein/DNA mutations with disease pathogenesis and treatment options, gene expression, biomarker discovery, statistical genetics, etc;
  • In-silico mechanistic and structural insights of PPIs and Protein-DNA interactions;
  • Complex models of cellular and pathogenic systems studied by biochemical and/or biophysical aspect.

Prof. Done Stojanov is an associate professor of Bioinformatics & Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Computer Science, Goce Delčev University of Štip, Republic of North Macedonia. He completed his PhD studies in 2015 in the field of applied algorithms in bioinformatics. His research interests include: general bioinformatics, clinical bioinformatics, computational proteomics and machine learning. He has published scientific papers in internationally respected SCI-indexed journals and conferences.
