Basic Science of Cancer Survivorship

Despite making significant strides in unraveling the mechanisms of common cancer survivorship syndromes and disorders, and the publication of discovery experiments and translational studies,  the two realms of cancer survivorship research – the clinical and the preclinical - remain largely siloed.

The birth of Cancer Survivorship Research and Care offers an incredible opportunity for greater integration towards enhancing the quality of life for cancer survivors by creating a depository of high quality scientific studies from all realms of research. In this Special Issue, we will focus on basic and preclinical research in the field of cancer survivorship. These studies may include (but are not restricted to) methodologies such as animal research, behavioral neuroscience, molecular and cellular assays, in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, microbiome analysis and mathematical modelling. Any topic relevant to cancer survivorship is welcome. Manuscripts must include ‘basic’ science methodologies as a component of the study but are not required to entirely comprise basic science research. Manuscripts must use language that encourages understanding and interest from both clinical and consumer audiences in addition to other preclinical scientists
