Artificial Intelligence Applications in Industry 4.0
Recent developments of IoT technologies have enabled the advancement of smart factory in Industry 4.0. The key concept in Industry 4.0 is the revolution of cyber-physical systems (CPS). CPSs are smart systems that include engineered interacting networks of physical and computational components which have been driven by new technologies such as digital twin, robotics, automation, big data analytics, and cloud computing, etc. Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques are widely used for analysis of big data, modelling and optimization, design and operation of manufacturing and logistics system, and have been a hot topic in both academia and industry. The application of AI outcomes includes new things, new values, new services, new ways to overcome the problems or solutions to complex manufacturing and logistic problems in Industry 4.0. The adoption of AI techniques in smart manufacturing and logistics systems is, however, not straightforward. The article collection aims to address recent advances on AI techniques in smart manufacturing and logistics with rich objectives, and new challenges for Industry 4.0.
The topics for article collection aim at, but are not limited to, the following themes and developments in the field of AI applications in smart manufacturing and logistics.
- Modeling and control of cyber physical production systems and industry 4.0;
- Data science and data-driven systems in smart manufacturing and logistics;
- Integration between model-driven and data driven approaches in smart manufacturing and logistics;
- Machine learning and artificial intelligence for advanced manufacturing and logistic systems;
- Production planning, scheduling and control algorithms of smart manufacturing and logistics systems;- Fault diagnosis, prediction of automation systems
- Digitalization, simulation, digital twins for intelligent automation systems;
- Smart factories, Smart logistics and supply chains; Smart products with embedded intelligence;
- Data mining and data-driven control and optimization:
- Standardization in smart manufacturing/logistics; Sustainability and green automation; new applications of AI for sustainable society
-New AI applications in Industry 4.0
