Advances in Genomics and Its Healthcare Applications

This collection aims to highlight recent progress and emerging trends in genomics applications. It will cover a broad range of subtopics, including but not limited to genomic diagnostics, personalised and precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, cancer genomics, rare genetic diseases, gene therapy, and ethical, legal, and social implications of genomic data use.

Genomics is advancing rapidly, shaping research and healthcare planning. Pharmacogenomic tests, such as clopidogrel screening, are transitioning from pilot programs to routine clinical use. Panel-based tests that evaluate genetic responses to multiple drug classes, including SSRIs, PPIs, opioids, and statins, are also being developed for broader application. This collection will examine these developments, their integration into clinical practice, and the challenges of scaling up testing, including workflow optimisation, clinician and pharmacists’ education. It can also explore patient and public perspectives on genomics and pharmacogenomic testing.

Subject: Advancement in genomics and the translation of genomic discoveries into routine clinical practice.

Subtopics: include new genetics testing and panel testing, implementation pathways, multidisciplinary team education and decision support, economic and ethical considerations, and patient and public perspectives on genomic testing, genomics in rare disease, and cancer.

We welcome original research articles reporting clinical or implementation data, systematic and scoping reviews synthesising evidence.

Keywords:

  1. Pharmacogenomics
  2. Genomic medicine
  3. Clinical implementation
  4. Personalised therapy
  5. Polymorphic drug metabolism
