Digitization and Digitalization in Advanced Composites Manufacturing

Digitization and Digitalization in Advanced Composites Manufacturing
Manufacturing of high-quality composite parts from continuous fiber-reinforced polymers is based on robust processing technologies such as Liquid Composite Molding (LCM), Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), Automated Tape Placement (ATP), Autoclaving, Pultrusion, Filament Winding or Thermoforming.
In times of increased involvement of digitization and digitalization in this field, aspects such as process-specific data acquisition, model-based and/or data-driven process design and management, combination of process-related data with process simulation, digital twins, machine learning and artificial intelligence become steadily more prominent.
This Article Collection is dedicated to novel and engineering solutions in the field of digitization and/or digitalization in processing of continuous fiber-reinforced polymer composites.
Some subjects are mentioned here for reference and submission, e.g.:
·        Sensors and inline data acquisition for processing in composites
·        Optimization techniques for process design
·        Passive and active control of manufacturing technologies
·        Automated processing of continuous fiber-reinforced polymer composites
·        Application of machine learning techniques for advanced process design and/or management
