Timo Strandberg, MD, PhD, Universities of Helsinki and Oulu; Helsinki University Hospital, Finland
Dr.Strandberg is the full professor of geriatrics at the University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital. He also has an affiliation at the University of Oulu, Center for Life Course Research. Dr.Strandberg has specialized in internal medicine (1992) and geriatrics (1993) at the University of Helsinki. Strandberg served as the President of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS) in 2014-2015, and is currently the President of the Clinical Section of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) European Region. His research interests include cardiovascular diseases and their prevention over the life course, geriatric syndromes, esp. frailty and cognitive disorders, and pharmacotherapy in old age.
Esa Jämsen, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Geriatrics, Chief Geriatrician, Tampere University and Tampere University Hospital, Tampere, Finland
Dr. Jämsen has worked as Assistant Professor of Geriatrics at Tampere University, Tampere, Finland, and is a Chief Geriatrician responsible for geriatric consultation services at Tampere University Hospital. His research background is in musculoskeletal disorders, especially in the effect of comorbidities on the outcomes of joint replacement surgery. During the university career since 2015, his research focus has shifted to acute care of the aged. The main topics of Dr. Jämsen’s research group include organization and outcomes of acute care of the aged, geriatric pharmacotherapy and management of acute and chronic diseases in home care clients.
