Mental Health as a Chronic Disease Issue: Implication for Health Education and Health Promotion Programs for Children and Adolescents
AJHE is accepting manuscripts on mental health issues as a chronic condition. Mental health impacts myriad social and behavioral conditions, problems and factors (e.g. gun violence in schools, suicide, addictive behavior, bullying, depression, game addiction, ADHD, mood disorders, etc.). For this special issue, we are seeking papers that focus on children and adolescents as the population of interest.
AJHE accepts research papers, feature manuscripts, and commentaries. Manuscripts that apply Health Behavior Theory, Social Ecological Principles and Health Communication Theory are encouraged.
Topics for this special issue include, but are not limited to:
- Studies evaluating the impact of interventions related to mental health in children and adolescents.
- Systematic review/meta analysis on a mental health topic.
- Health communication techniques and strategies to raise awareness.
- Commentary of issue and concerns related to mental health issue in children and adolescents.
The anticipated publication date for this special issue is Summer 2019. The suggested deadline for submission is February 15, 2019.
AJHE does not charge page fees or submission fees.
Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed following standard AJHE journal procedures. All communication on manuscript submissions and the review process will be managed within the online Taylor & Francis ScholarOne Manuscripts system. This system will be used to facilitate the review and revision of all manuscripts submitted for this Special Issue. When submitting your manuscript, please indicate in your Cover Letter that your manuscript is prepared for this particular special issue on Mental Health as a Chronic Disease Issue.
The American Journal of Health Education publishes research manuscripts that focus on health education and health promotion interventions designed to prevent or delay the onset of the major chronic diseases and illnesses that impact populations of interest today (cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cirrhosis, etc.).
