About this Special Issue

Papers are invited on the topic of “Air Quality and Human Health: Air quality, exposure, and health effects in the near-road environment” to be published as a Special Issue of the Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association (J&AWMA) in 2020 (Volume 70). Dr. Petros Koutrakis of Harvard University will serve as the Guest Editor for this Special Issue.

Authors are encouraged to (re)examine any of the following topics:

  • Sampling and characterization of traffic emissions
  • Composition of near-road particulate matter
  • Contributions of tailpipe and non-tailpipe emissions to near-road particle matter
  • Exposures to traffic emissions/pollutants originating from roadways
  • Factors that influence traffic emissions or traffic-related exposures
  • Trends/Changes in traffic emissions
  • Health effects of traffic-related exposures

Submission guidelines

Deadline: April 30, 2020

All manuscripts must be formatted according to the Style Guidelines and then submitted via the ScholarOne Manuscript Review System to enter the review process.

All papers published in the Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association (JA&WMA) are subject to page charges: US$69 for current A&WMA members (name and member ID required) and US$99 for nonmembers. This modest page charge helps to (1) defray the publication costs, and (2) provide open access for all JA&WMA papers after one year from their print publication date.
