Beginnings and Endings
The International Journal of Infant Observation and Its Applications invites submissions for a forthcoming issue exploring the theme of Beginnings and Endings.
Beginnings and endings are central to human development and to psychoanalytic thinking. They shape our earliest relationships, influence our capacity to separate and connect, and are continually revisited throughout life.
We welcome papers that explore beginnings and endings from a range of perspectives, including but not limited to:
- Infant observation
- Young child observation
- Work discussion
- Theoretical and conceptual papers
- Clinical applications of the observational method
- Teaching and learning through observation
- Research informed by psychoanalytic observational approaches
- Book, film, exhibition and other cultural and arts reviews that engage with psychoanalytic observation and the theme of Beginnings and Endings
We encourage contributions from practitioners, researchers, educators and trainees working across disciplines where psychoanalytic observation informs practice.
Submission Instructions
Submission guidelines
- Research papers and clinical papers approx. 5,000–8,000 words
- Shorter reflective papers or practice papers approx. 3,000–5,000 words.
- All submissions should follow the Journal of Infant Observation author guidelines and will be subject to the journal’s standard peer review process.
- Authors are not required to submit an abstract or proposal in advance. Manuscripts may be submitted directly via the Journal of Infant Observation online submission system. However, if you have any questions about the special issue or would like to discuss the suitability of a proposed contribution before submitting, we would be delighted to hear from you.
