Asian Journal of Women’s Studies (AJWS) invites proposals for thematic Special Issues to be published in 2028 and beyond. Proposals for Special Issues should be submitted to the Managing Editor Haewon Yang at [email protected], to be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and the Associate Editors for congruency with AJWS’s aims and scope, potential interest for our readership, and novel contributions to the field.
AJWS especially welcomes special issues that explore under-theorized or under-researched topics and subjects, offer new and original insights into gender and sexual politics in Asian contexts, and inspire critical transnational and postcolonial feminist dialogues across borders. Special issues may also originate from conference panels or collaborative research projects.
Guest Editors will be responsible for recommending reviewers and making the editorial decision; however, the Editor-in-Chief will make the final editorial determinations.
Authors should include the following information in their proposal for a Special Issue:
Contact information and expertise of the Guest Editors– names, affiliations, contact details, and brief biographical details of the proposed Guest Editors including an outline of their expertise in the topic area
Aims and scope of the Special Issue – overview of the topic area, scope of the papers to be included, goals and contributions of the Special Issue
Envisioned timetable – tentative date for first submissions, period for peer-review and resubmissions, and deadline for final acceptance of peer-reviewed articles
A list of potential authors – names, affiliations, and Google Scholar link (if applicable)
If the authors are already confirmed with their working papers, please provide the working title and the abstract of the papers
Once received, Editor-in-Chief will make the decision in consultation with Associate Editors and Managing Editor will contact the Guest Editors of the decision.
All research articles submitted to the Special Issue that are deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed by two independent reviewers. We have a strict double anonymized peer review policy and the recommended reviewers should have suitable expertise in the field. Once a manuscript is accepted it will be published on-line first with other regular research articles and then pulled into the Special Issue later.
