Artificial Intelligence and Multi-Omics in Precision Oncology: From Biomarker Discovery to Translational Therapeutics

Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI), single-cell and spatial omics, digital pathology, radiomics, and computational biology are transforming the landscape of precision oncology. These technologies have enabled unprecedented opportunities for deciphering tumor heterogeneity, identifying clinically relevant biomarkers, predicting therapeutic responses, and discovering novel targets for personalized treatment.

Despite remarkable progress, major challenges remain in translating multi-omics data and AI-based algorithms into clinically actionable strategies. There is an increasing need to bridge molecular mechanisms with patient-centered applications and to integrate computational innovations with translational and clinical oncology. This Article Collection aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers and clinicians to present high-quality original studies and comprehensive reviews that highlight emerging biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and clinically meaningful applications of AI and multi-omics technologies in cancer management. Particular emphasis will be placed on translational studies that facilitate the implementation of precision oncology in clinical practice.

Submissions may include original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, and perspectives covering, but not limited to, the following topics: AI and Computational Oncology (AI-driven biomarker discovery, machine learning/deep learning models, explainable AI, predictive models); Multi-Omics Integration (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, single-cell sequencing, spatial omics); Tumor Biology and Biomarkers (tumor microenvironment, cancer immunology, immune escape, cancer metabolism); Digital Medicine and Imaging (digital/computational pathology, radiomics, AI-assisted imaging); Therapeutic Development (drug resistance, novel targets, precision immunotherapy); and Translational and Clinical Oncology (biomarker-guided therapy, clinical validation, real-world evidence).

Dr. Yong Teng is a Professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. His research interests encompass cancer biology and immunology, translational medicine, biomarker studies, and AI-driven computational approaches. He brings extensive experience in bridging basic cancer research with clinical applications.

Dr. Yadong Guo is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Attending Urologist in the Department of Urology at Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital, Tongji University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China. His research focuses on cancer immunology, immune escape mechanisms, cancer metabolism, biomarkers, translational oncology, and precision medicine.
