Hypnotherapy in the Digital Age: mHealth, AI, and Virtual Reality
We are pleased to announce this call for papers for a special issue on Hypnotherapy in the Digital Age: mHealth, AI, and Virtual Reality. There is a growing demand and interest on mobile health (mHealth) app-delivered hypnotherapy, use of artificial intelligence (AI) as well as the use of Virtual Reality (VR) to complement and facilitate hypnosis. This call for papers for a special issue of the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis aims to advance international scholarship by bringing together research studies, applied innovations, and theoretical frameworks that examine how AI, mHealth apps and VR techniques are reshaping hypnotherapy practice, training, and conceptualization.
The Hypnotherapy in the Digital Age: mHealth, AI, and Virtual Reality special issue will be a selection of the best papers (research, theoretical, or clinical). With the growing interest in the use of AI and improved accessibility of clinical hypnosis interventions through mHealth apps, as well as the potential of VR in hypnosis research. From AI-assisted tool to digital hypnotherapy apps and virtual reality, the integration of technology into clinical hypnosis raises empirical, theoretical, clinical, and ethical questions. This special issue will focus on promoting articles that may address questions such as:
- What are some of the benefits and potential risks of using AI in clinical hypnosis?
- What research is available regarding mHealth apps related to clinical hypnosis?
- What is the role of hypnotizability in the effectiveness or acceptability of mHealth-delivered clinical hypnosis interventions?
- What has research taught us about Virtual Reality and hypnosis?
