About the Journal
Cogent Education is a leading multidisciplinary open access journal, publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed articles across the breadth of educational research. The journal is led by Editor-in-Chief Professor John C.K. Lee (The Education University of Hong Kong), supported by an expert international Editorial Board. Our academic editors take an objective and constructive approach to peer review, ensuring each manuscript is evaluated on its own scholarly merits and research integrity. Article-level metrics let the research speak for itself.
The Adult & Continuing Education section aims to provide a forum for the investigation of, and critical engagement with adult and continuing education topics in dynamically changing global, regional, national and/or local contexts. It views adult and continuing education broadly within a lifelong learning and education framework and as crucially important for the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. It welcomes both empirical studies and theoretical work that advance scholarship in the field as well as critical engagement with policy. Topics of interest include adult and continuing education in relation to: adult learning and literacies; learning modalities and technologies; citizenship; social and personal transformation; vocations, work and livelihoods; continuing professional development; social and community development; and social inclusion. It is open to explorations of the interface between adult and continuing education and ‘wicked’ problems such as migration, war, disease, inequality and climate change in a more-than-human world.
