Dialectical Behavior Therapy with Children, Adolescents, and Families: Innovations, Adaptations, and Emerging Directions

This special issue will highlight advances in the use of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with children, adolescents, and families.

We invite contributions that explore how DBT is being implemented, adapted, and studied across child and family contexts. Submissions may include empirical studies, clinical innovations, case studies, program descriptions, and theoretical or conceptual papers.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Adaptations of DBT for children and adolescents
• DBT for adolescents across settings (outpatient, intensive outpatient, inpatient, residential and schools)
• Family involvement in DBT 
• DBT with diverse and underserved populations
• Innovations in DBT skills training for youth and caregivers
• Integration of DBT with other treatment approaches for youth
• Technology-assisted DBT (e.g., apps, telehealth, digital tools)
• Training and supervision in DBT for child and family clinicians
• Prevention and early intervention using DBT-informed approaches

Abstracts will be due January 12th 2027 and full manuscripts due May 26th 2027.
