Materials Science in Austria: Current Research and Innovations

This special issue presents contributions from materials science institutes at five Austrian universities, offering a representative cross-section of current research in this field. The selected articles highlight the diversity of ongoing work, covering a broad spectrum of materials, particularly metals and ceramics. In addition, the issue reflects the variety of processing and manufacturing routes required for these material classes. Together, the contributions provide an overview of Austria’s research landscape in materials science, illustrating both fundamental approaches and application-oriented developments.
