Additive Manufacturing with Industrial Applications

Overview

As Additive Manufacturing (AM) transitions from prototyping to full-scale production, ensuring the quality, reliability, and mechanical integrity of 3D printed parts is crucial. This special issue aims to bridge the gap between fundamental AM research and its practical industrial implementation. We invite contributions that explore the intersection of design, material science, and quality control within the AM ecosystem.

Scope and Topics

We are seeking original research articles, reviews, and case studies focusing on:

  • Design for AM (DfAM): Innovative design methodologies that leverage the geometric freedom of 3D printing.
  • Generative and Computational design: Utilizing algorithms to create unusual geometries (customised, organic, lattice-heavy structures etc).
  • Mechanical Characterization: Advanced tensile, compression, and bending testing of AM parts.
  • Precision Engineering: Improving surface roughness and dimensional accuracy for industrial tolerances.
  • Advanced Materials: The development and application of composites and high-performance metals in AM.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitoring and standardization in the manufacturing workflow when additive manufacturing is used.
  • Materials used for AM: polymers, composites, metallic applications etc.
  • Industrial applications with AM
