Cross-linguistic and multicultural perspectives on assessment and treatment for neurogenic communication disorders
We invite researchers, clinicians, and scholars to submit original manuscripts for an upcoming special issue in Aphasiology focused on cross-linguistic and multicultural perspectives in the assessment and treatment of neurogenic communication disorders. This issue will encompass diverse clinical populations with post-stroke aphasia, dementia, and traumatic brain injury/acquired brain injury. This special issue aims to explore the challenges, innovations, and evidence-based practices in diverse linguistic and cultural contexts.
Topics of submission can cover, but not limited to:
- Cross-linguistic comparisons of assessment tools and their efficacy in diagnosing specific aspects of stroke and other neurogenic communication disorders.
- Treatment strategies tailored to bilingual and multilingual individuals with diverse clinical populations with neurogenic communication disorders
- Cultural and linguistic considerations in developing and testing assessments and rehabilitation approaches.
- Technological innovations and digital tools for assessment and therapy in varied linguistic settings.
- Case studies and clinical trials highlighting cross-linguistic approaches to clinical populations with neurogenic communication disorders.
- The impact of language proficiency, code-switching, and language dominance on recovery and therapy outcomes.
- Policy and practice implications for multilingual and multicultural healthcare settings.
Submission Instructions
- Manuscripts should be original, unpublished work not under consideration elsewhere.
- Submissions must follow Aphasiology’s formatting and referencing guidelines.
- All manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer review process.
Important Dates:
- Submission Deadline: 30 November 2025
- Publication Date: Accepted papers will be published online as available following the production process. Please note, the special issue will be collated after the final paper has been accepted and processed.
