Emerging Market Issues in Asia-Pacific Region

The Emerging Markets Finance and Trade (EMFT) journal, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), is pleased to announce the inaugural India Conference on Trade Wars, Economic Growth, and Financial Stability in India and the Asia-Pacific Region, to be held on December 19, 2025, at IIT Bombay, Mumbai.

This conference brings together scholars, policymakers, and financial market experts to engage in rigorous academic dialogue on the effects of global trade disruptions—particularly the US-led trade war—on emerging economies. In recent years, trade-related uncertainty has emerged as a key determinant of economic growth, financial market performance, and macro-financial stability in India and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The conference aims to foster high-quality research that deepens our understanding of the complex interconnections between trade policy, economic growth, and financial systems under stress.

The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Paresh Narayan of Monash University, who also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of EMFT. Scholars interested in presenting their work are invited to submit full papers to Professor Puja Padhi at pujapadhi@iitb.ac.in, with a copy to sharma.suz03@gmail.com, no later than November 1, 2025. The organising committee will notify authors of acceptance decisions by November 10, 2025. All queries should be directed to Prof. Padhi. All accepted papers must register for the conference by paying a registration fee of INR 3,500. Each accepted paper will be assigned an expert discussant to facilitate constructive feedback during the sessions.

In addition to the conference proceedings, papers that meet high academic standards will be invited for submission to a special issue of Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, focused on the conference theme. The special issue will be Guest Edited by Professor Susan Sharma, Editor of EMFT, and Professor Puja Padhi of IIT Bombay.

The conference is being organized by a distinguished committee comprising Professor Puja Padhi (Co-Chair) of IIT Bombay and Professor Badri Rath (Co-Chair) of IIT Hyderabad, Professor Prabheesh K.P. of IIT Hyderabad, Professor Bhavesh Garg of IIT Ropar, and Professor Praveen Jangam of IIT Jodhpur.
