Advancing and Broadening Quality Management for the Future: Integrative and Innovative Approaches

In an increasingly complex and interconnected world, the imperatives of sustainability, agility, and innovation demand that the field of quality management evolve beyond its traditional confines. Additionally, in today's ever-changing environment, organizations will prosper by responding promptly to evolving demands which require adapting and capitalizing on new opportunities. Organizations should prioritize identifying and valuing information (i.e., external knowledge) that can subsequently support business operations and performance. The Quality Management Journal invites scholars, practitioners, and industry leaders to contribute to a special issue on "Advancing and Broadening Quality Management for the Future: Integrative and Innovative Approaches". This issue aims to explore how quality management can be expanded and enriched by incorporating insights from a wide range of disciplines, practices, and technology advances, to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Scope and Themes

This special issue seeks to spotlight research that pushes the boundaries of quality management by integrating theories, technologies, and practices from other disciplines, as well as applying quality management principles, practices, and methodologies to foster organizational sustainability, agility, innovation, and evolution. We are particularly interested in contributions that demonstrate how quality management can be adapted and extended to address global and social challenges, create sustainable and agile processes, and drive business excellence.

Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following areas:

• Innovative applications of quality management practices and methodologies in building knowledge and shaping organizational agility and innovation.
• Quality management principles and practices that foster an agile culture that drives innovation, leading to organizational growth and success.
• Empirical and theoretical studies on the integration of external knowledge into organizational processes through quality management philosophy.
• Cross-disciplinary frameworks that combine quality management with other theoretical perspectives to enhance organizational agility and innovation.
• Continuous improvement methodologies and their significance in supporting sustainable long-term operations, as well as fostering an agile and innovative culture within the organization.
• The role of AI and digital technologies to enhance current quality management systems.

We welcome submissions that challenge conventional wisdom, propose new frameworks, and showcase the practical application of quality management principles, practices, and methodologies in novel contexts. This special issue represents an opportunity to influence the future direction of quality management research and practice, encouraging a broader and more integrative approach to addressing the pressing needs of businesses and society.
