Fecal microbiota transplantation for gastrointestinal infections & disease

We are pleased to announce a new Article Collection in Gut Microbes, dedicated to the role of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) in gastrointestinal infections and disease.

FMT involves collecting stool from a healthy donor and introducing them into a patient’s gastrointestinal tract. With a focus on restoring a patient’s healthy gut microbiome, FMT represents a paradigm shift from traditional treatments.

While FMT is FDA approved for the prevention of recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection, research is ongoing for FMT in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), obesity and more. Given the importance of this emerging treatment, Gut Microbes invites submissions of original research articles, reviews, and perspectives exploring the mechanisms of action, clinical efficacy, safety, and real-world application of FMT.

The collection, edited by Editor-In-Chief Professor Beth McCormick, will be included in Taylor & Francis’ Game Changer Series. This series features Article Collections focused on breakthrough therapies, drugs, or technologies that have significantly altered the standard of care.

Papers published within the Game Changer series will benefit from additional promotional activities across Taylor and Francis, increasing the discoverability and visibility of your research.

While the call is open to receive manuscripts across the broad spectrum of FMT, the Editors are particularly interested in manuscripts relating to the following areas:

  • difficile infection, IBD, IBS and other gastrointestinal diseases
  • Metabolic disorders, including obesity, type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
  • Neurological conditions involving the microbiota-gut-brain axis
  • Efficacy and safety different in different patient populations
  • Challenges such as donor screening & manufacturing protocols

Submitting authors are eligible for a 20% discount on the Article Publishing charge by applying the following code at the point of submission: Game-Changer-Series. The code must be applied at the point of submission.

If you have any queries regarding the Article Collection or would like to discuss a submission, then please email the Commissioning Editor at zhiyuan.zhang@taylorandfrancis.com.
