Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET): Research and Clinical Advancements in Treating Trauma and Dissociation

The goal of this special issue of the JTD is to highlight the latest research and clinical advancements in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) while fostering greater awareness among NET scholars and trauma and dissociation experts about its potential in treating and supporting trauma survivors. The guest editors aim to provide a comprehensive, state-of-the-art overview and promote future developments of NET across a broader range of trauma-affected individuals, various settings, and the application by different professional groups (including general practitioners and lay counselors).

We encourage submissions focused on:

• Critical reflections on theoretical foundations and mechanisms of change in NET
• Applications of NET in diverse cultural contexts and clinical settings;
• Advancements and Innovations in Narrative Exposure Therapy including the variations of the standard protocol
• NET or any other NET- related intervention in different target groups (children, elderly, minorities, children and adults with intellectual or developmental disability, future mothers/parents, individuals with mental comorbidities; LGBTQ+ communities)
• Narrative Trauma Coaching delivered by lay counselors or paraprofessionals (NAT-counselors)
• Integrating technology in NET practice
• Adaptations of NET (dissociative responding during confrontation; substance abuse, suicidality)
• Long-term course after treatment with NET and Follow up studies
• Interdisciplinary perspectives on NET
